Investment Policy

Murray Edwards Financial Report (2024). It says:

The College instructs fund managers to manage financial investments. Its principal fund managers during the year were CCLA Investment Management Limited and the Cambridge University Endowment Fund (CUEF). Cambridge Associates manages venture capital and private equity investments. The College directly manages a number of small, maturing private equity investments and a literary estate.

Investment managers’ ethical and responsible investment policies are reviewed and the College excludes direct investments which materially conflict with its purposes.

A statement from the Murray Edwards College JCR. Dear Murray Edwards College Community, The Murray Edwards College JCR stands in unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people. Since October 7th 2023, military action by the Israeli state has killed over 45,000 Palestinians, and targeted vital infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and universities, directly
Part 2 of a statement from the Murray Edwards College JCR. contributing to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The Israeli government supports the resettlement of two million Palestinians outside of the country. This would amount to ethnic cleansing. We call on the University of Cambridge to commit to a permanent ceasefire and oppose the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza. Murray Edwards College does not fund or invest in arms or entities complicit in facilitating the genocide in Gaza. We strongly urge other colleges and the University as a whole to follow this example by divesting from companies complicit in the investment of Israeli arms. Additionally, we are advocating for the creation of a sanctuary for students from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds, including promoting financial support for Palestinian students. This crisis has impacted our community in Cambridge, resulting in increased incidents of Islamophobic and Anti-Semitic harassment, as well as the enhanced censorship of pro-Palestinian voices since October 7th
